REP. ARMANDO -MANDO- MARTINEZ AUTHORS LEGISLATION TO CREATE A SIXTH HIDALGO COUNTY COURT

Representative Armando "Mando" Martinez filed House Bill 3570 yesterday, April 20, 2005. The measure would create a 6th County Court at Law in Hidalgo County to accommodate the overwhelming case load that the five Hidalgo County Courts have currently.

"The need for an additional county court in Hidalgo is undoubtedly there and has been for some time," Representative Martinez stated. "I am confident that House Bill 3570 will lighten the case load and work load on each county court."

"After researching the type of cases held in each court we found that a substantial amount of the cases were family related. The newly created court will be especially for those cases pertaining to family law," Representative Martinez said.

Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa will be carrying the companion bill over on the Senate side, Senate Bill 1875 and had the following to say about the bill, "Hidalgo County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state," said Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa. "An additional court will help expand our judicial system so that it can operate in a timely and effective manner."
