REP. ARMANDO -MANDO- MARTINEZ UNANIMOUSLY PASSES HIS FIRST BILL ON THE HOUSE FLOOR

Representative Armando "Mando" Martinez unanimously passed his first piece of legislation through the House of Representatives this Monday, April 11, 2005. With 146 of the 150 member body in support of HB 233 and 0 nays for the bill it was unanimously passed to the Senate where Senator Eddie Lucio will pick up the measure.

HB 233, a bill assigned to the House Committee on Urban Affairs allows municipal law enforcement to secure an emergency, accident, fire, disaster or any other emergency situation outside their respective municipality. "Basically the bill utilizes all forms of law enforcement to secure the scene as quickly as possible," Martinez stated. "I'm excited, mostly for what the bill accomplishes and how it will improve District 39, Martinez said. "Experiencing this matter on a first hand basis as a firefighter and paramedic I know that the difference between life and death can be a matter of seconds."

Representative Martinez has numerous other bills moving through the House of Representatives and is eager to continue passage of the remainder of his bill on his legislative agenda.
