Rep. Armando "Mando" Martinez Announces the importance of the CLICK IT or TICKET campaign

Representative Armando "Mando" Martinez would like to stress the importance of the "Click it or ticket" campaign that has been started to cut back on casualties on our Texas highways. Several law enforcement agencies in Texas will put an emphasis on seeking drivers and passengers who aren’t properly secured during this campaign. The “Click It or Ticket” campaign will stretch from May 23 through June 5 of 2005.

"In my line of work as a firefighter/paramedic I cannot express how important it is to properly secure yourself while riding in a vehicle," Martinez stated. "It simply makes the difference between life and death in many of the traffic accidents we report to, so not only during this campaign, but at all times, buckle yourself and anyone else your responsible for up." The law in Texas states that each individual in the front seat of a vehicle must wear a safety belt. The law also states that children under 17 years of age must be secured with a safety belt, or a form of child safety seat, no matter where they are located in the vehicle. Children under four years old and less than 36 inches tall are required to be secured in a child safety seat. All drivers with passengers under the age of 17 and not properly secured can be ticketed for this violation. Fines for not being properly secured here in Texas range from $50 to $200, plus court costs. So "Click it or Ticket".
